From now on, if I ever have to buy another crate. I will buy those that are the variKennels. Jazz has just finnished off my Midwest crate of which her head was stuck in the hole that Chelbe had put in it. Bf had to cut the next wire inline where Chelbe had previously broke out the two wires beside it to get her head free. She is ok! Not a mark on her for she was just resting until someone came home to get her out.
Anyone know where I can get a steel replacement door panel for my Midwest crate?
I think my next puppy will be a boy :bigsad:

Wow Barb...glad Jazz wasn't hurt. I've heard some horror stories about dogs getting heads caught in a crate.
Sorry, I can't help you with the crate. I wonder if you can call or e-mail the Midwest Co. ?

Wow, I am glad she is okay! I tell you I am forever reminding myself how lucky I am with all of my dogs. I have been so fortunate. Believe me it isn't good training!

No, I don't think that's what anyone is saying. Sometimes freak accidents just occur. Crate training has been invaluable at my house and I think many others would say the same. I believe there is a pinned crate training thread you can check.

To Cindy76,
My girls have been crate trained from the time I got them when they were 5 months old. Right now my girls (which are now 8) are going through a destructive stage. I have never had any problems with Jazz crating up until her cousin Chelbe showed her how to be a total "hellian". Last year Chelbe started the destructive stage at the age of 7. This year, Jazz decided it was her turn

Don`t know where this behavior is coming from all of a sudden but I wish it would stop

Hi Barb,
This sounds like more of an anxiety issue than normal naughtiness to me. . . Is she doing this only when you're gone? Has anything changed in your home environment since this started happening? I think that I would start treating it like Separation Anxiety, and possibly even look into drug therapy if behavior modification alone doesn't help. I think that you're also right to want to stick her in a VariKennel, as it's safer - no pokey wires, but it probably won't contain her better, as she'll probably just break the pins and pop the top off. Is there any chance that she could behave if left alone in a closed room with a nice cushy bed in the corner?
Either way, heads stuck in shredded crate wires is a scary thing indeed. I sure am sorry that you're both having to go through this!
