I did like your old site - pity it went kapoof!
I too have trouble with the yellow, though yellow could be alright, but it kind of clashes for me on that background because its not consistenly one colour.
Its full of info, which it always has been, love the puppies and the article page was a great inclusion!
I too like the idea of perhaps detailing each practice you train and work with for those who are unfamiliar.
I don't mind what your background is, thats what you do and thats all linked with your title etc, but the others maybe right with others being offended / put off etc from it - you can never please everyone ! I do like the red/green fade and yellow writing combo, but again just not on that background. There seems to be too much going on for my eyes, a little chaotic? is that the right word?
If you still want to incorperate that image you've used as your background, maybe you could use that at the background for the 'about us page' and change your colour for writing etc to make it a little easier to read, and then with all the other pages find another idea to use - either another image that is representing you and your work, but just not so 'busy' or choose colours that are similar to the original to incorperate with the other pages so it doens't look disjointed?
I am no expert on web page design, but as an art teacher I am a visual thinker and am easily affected by things that I see - if that makes sense (we have a shop here that is bright pumpkin orange inside and I cannot handle sitting inside it let alone just walking into it

).
Hope this has hepled some? If not - then promise to update us on Willie, gosh what a DOLL!!!!
