I just wanted to post to get some positive vibes for Lincoln's neutering this Friday, Jan 13th. I am getting a little nervous as any normal mommy would. I can't help but remember Hailey having a seizure coming off the anesthitia.
Lincoln is such a wonderful puppy, I can't begin to explain his character and intelligence level at 4 months. He is amazing! I want the best for him and I know I'm doing the right thing, I just don't like having to put him under.
I have decided to leave his tail as is, I'm not going to dock it. He has a lot of boxer traits but he's not full blooded. I talked to my new vet and they said there are more complications with age such as infections and such. I certainly don't want to cause problems uneccassarily. Anyway, his tail is too cute!
I am very confident with my new vet, they have the best equipment and state of the art facility there is anywhere around here. The vets and assistants and receptionists are so kind and caring and efficient, I wouldn't take him anywhere else.
Please send positive vibes for Lincoln's procedure and well being, and for his mommy's jitters!

I can guarantee you will suffer much more trauma than he will!! :bigtears: I'm sure he'll come through just fine and probably won't miss a beat!
I think it's pretty common for vets to frown on tail docking after a certain age. We have run into this before in rescue, bc it's really difficult to adopt out a boxer with a tail around here, and sometimes adopters say they want a dog only if its tail gets docked. :dunno: But we just say sorry, at this point it's kind of an amputation and vets won't do that, especially if the dog isn't going under anethesia for anything else.

Sending lots of vibes, he will be absolutely fine. I too was a nervous nelly when Oobie went in for hers and everyone here was so supportive with all my questions!!
I made Oobie (actually 'doctored') a top for her to wear afterwards that was nice and soft and kept her from going near her stitches afterwards.

Send good vibes!
Just want to mention or I should say ask if you are aware of ace and boxers?
If not check out this before friday.

Thanks for the good vibes!
Thanks for the info also, Doc!
I called and talked to my vet about it. He uses "ace" in combination with 2 other drugs and said it was a very small amount but was more than glad to substitute depravin (sp?) for me. It's really comforting to have a great vet that is aware of special needs, honors owner's requests, and just plain out cares!

be sure ACE is not used - and I know the feeling - it will be Lennox's turn soon and he one of his testicles didnt drop so it's a bit more complicated and makes me nervous.
Hugs - he will be fine.

Good vibes coming from here too. We always worry but he will be fine. Your vet sounds like a good guy who listens to you. Buy Lincoln some nice chicken mince for after his surgery - he will be more interesting in that than his missing bits.
