Some of you know (from a chat last week) that I was bitten by my new boxer Benny. I was trying to break up a fight between Benny and my other boxer Comet because they had my 4 year old dd cornered and she was terrified.
After a trip to the ER, a tetanus shot, and antibiotics, my hand is still way sore! I really thought a week later it would be feeling better. It doesn't seem infected, just really sore and bruised inside. The actual broken skin portions have almost healed over.
We still have not decided or found out what to do with Benny. The first few days he acted the model dog. And I cried every time I looked at him or when he'd curl up in bed with me at night.
There is a neighbor down the street from me who has two (very well cared for) boxers. I talked to her yesterday and she said at one time they had a boxer that wasn't getting along with their other boxer so they had to find him a new home. She said she had found someone through work. She said if we were interested she would find someone who she knew would take really good care of him.
She said in her extended family there are 9 boxers. They are all familiar with the breed. It may be our/Benny's best option.
I'm still very torn about it though...dh and I keep talking about Benny like he's our forever dog and in future tenses...just hard to make that transition...then yesterday (after he had already said no if's ands or buts that Benny had to go) that Benny was my dog and my decision! uggghhhh.....
Oh well, just wanted to give all of you that gave me such great advice, an update...and let you know that we are still working on it and healing, physically and emotionally.
